Joshua Trees are a type of yucca plant native to the Southwestern US, but found mainly in my native Mojave Desert. I think they’re one the most dramatic parts of our landscape. Here is a particularly beautiful tree with some ancient barbed wire from long-ago ranching days, and my partner, Michael.

We had Joshua Trees in our yard when we lived in Southern California, just north of Joshua Tree. If you have the misfortune to run into a Joshua Tree, it feels just like barbed wire. The leaves are more like thick, hard, sharp spines. Great pictures! I miss seeing the storm/clouds coming up over the mountains.
I once met a man who ran into a Joshua Tree on an off-road motorcycle. Let’s just say he actively steered clear of them from that moment on. Poor guy…
What a landscape! It’s stunningly beautiful in its own right. I didn’t get the chance of seeing much of the west of the US when I was there. Only San Francisco. Love the first photo, btw.
Well! You’re missing out on the best part!
Ok, ok, I’ll admit that San Francisco is pretty beautiful. California has most every landscape. You can’t beat driving up the coast, but I also love our Central California wine valleys. Next trip!
Absolutely adore Joshua Tree. Hiked to the “hidden” oasis one year in the national park. Great little adventure. Stunning photos!
Oh nice, isn’t it a beautiful park? Wonderful for rock climbing (and photography).
This beautiful landscape is a stranger to me and I hope I will get to experience it one day.
Come on over! There’s plenty of room and we Americans like visitors.
Looks like I should start planning for it.
